Constantine Girls soccer had their 2nd game of the season, matching up against guest Saugatuck. Captains: Amaya Walker, Bella Cullifer, Lilly Hofmeister & Honorable Captain Addison Roberts.
During warm ups, starting Keeper, Ally Platz was sidelined due to a wrist injury.
Saugatuck came strong out of the gate and scored within the first minute against rookie Keeper Paytin Featherstone - but do not even think that altered the path of the Falcons; they held the Trailblazers scoreless for more than 40 minutes thereafter! It was a great effort put forth by a veteran D-Line lead by Lilly Hofmeister* and Amaya Walker.
Going into halftime the Falcons were PUMPED! Amidst the first have we were able to get a lot of offensive runs going, most led by freshman Blakelie McMillin and sister Mia working in tandem with Addison Roberts, making 4 solid shots on goal.
The second half brought about a lot more confidence offensively, however A few missed offensive opportunities caught our fullbacks off track and led to commanding goals from the opposition. 0-3 before the falcons tacked on a strong goal from Addison Roberts, 1-3. The game ended 1-4. Featherstone with 7 solid saves and the Falcons with 7 solid shots on goal.
The Falcons even surprising themselves - this may be the first time in 3+ seasons going into halftime against the Trailblazers, that the score wasn't lopsided favoring the latter, or ending unfavorably in a Mercy.
*Lilly Hofmeister was a golden boot award winner - scoring the most goals in 2023 for the falcons, however moving her to a holding Stopper, defensive role, has paid off dividends already 2 games into this falcon 2024 season.

SPRING FALCON SOCCER CLUB PROGRAM
THE VARSITY FALCON SOCCER PROGRAM IS EXCITED TO OFFER A SPRING YOUTH SOCCER CLUB. THIS CLUB WILL RUN FOR 6 WEEKS [APRIL – JUNE]. EACH PLAYER WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A JERSEY & END OF YEAR AWARD. TROPHIES FOR TOURNAMENTS.
WEEK 1 2 LARGE GROUP TRAININGS – ALL AGES/GRADES
WEEK 2-6 1 PRACTICE & 1 GAME PER WEEK (TIMES TBD)
QUICK SOCCER GUIDELINES
50 MINUTE games, split into two 25:00 halves – with time for warm ups & substitutions
There will be an equal number of players on each team.
Offside: when a player is on the oppositions half without the ball or a defender between them and the goal/goalie.
A goal is scored when the ball crosses the white line between goal posts – you can end in a Tie.
The game starts with a kick-off from the center of the field, and also after each goal.
The goalie is the only player that can use their hands on the field, but only within their box.
Throw-In used when a ball goes out of play along the sides
Corner Kick & Goal Kick used when the ball is out of play along the end lines
If a foul is called the opposition takes a free kick or penalty kick (no Yellow & Red Cards –if necessary a player may be sat out)
AS A PARENT PLEASE PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING FOR ALL EVENTS:
- WATER BOTTLE OR HYDRATION
- SHORTS (PANTS, IF NECESSARY)
- SOCCER SOCKS
- SHIN GUARDS
- SOCCER CLEATS OR TENNIS SHOES

2024 SPRING SOCCER OUTLOOK IS POSITIVE

Maybe you have been following Falcon Soccer since it started - 6 years ago - or maybe you are new to the sport altogether. Either way - this spring season gives me all the good vibes!
A few key points of excitement are:
1. Returning 10 Varsity players [Mia McMillin, Ally Platz, Jasmine Six, Isabella Rubio-Perez, Lilly Hofmeister, Bella Cullifer, Addison Roberts, Amaya Walker, Yara Ortiz-Soto, Ryleigh Bacheller]
2. 20 jersey-ed players getting through tryouts
3. A dominately HOME schedule!
4. Starting a Youth Soccer Club for all 1-8th grade Constantine Students.
