The Falcons girls soccer team picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win on Friday night, thanks to a well-executed set piece that proved to be the difference in a tight contest.

The lone goal by Addison Roberts came off a corner kick, as the Falcons capitalized on a dangerous delivery into the box from Mia McMillin to break the deadlock and secure a first half lead. Strong defensive play and disciplined organization kept the Watervliet Panthers off the scoreboard throughout the match.

The victory highlights the Falcons' ability to grind out results in low-scoring affairs, with an all out effort of the girls on the pitch. 
The team will look to build on this momentum as they continue their campaign Monday at Bridgman.

For the 2026 Varsity girls team - the season opener didn’t go as planned, a reschedule game due to field conditions led to a late start.  But the Falcons team turned that setback into motivation—earning a 3–1 victory through 80 minutes of hard work and determination against the Buchanan Bucks 
For many players, it was their first varsity experience, yet they rose resiliently.  With confidence, supported by strong leadership from the veterans and captains the Falcon defense stood tall throughout, backed by an impressive six-save performance from Ava Hetchler in her debut goalkeeper role.

“Really great teamwork… need to work on 'offsides' and some conditioning, but the teamwork and effort was there,” the captains McMillin and Roberts shared after the game. 

It was a true full-team effort and a promising start to the season, showing both the potential of the group and the standard they’re ready to build on.
