Falcons Lose: 4 - 4
The Falcons showed their true heart against the Irish of Kalamazoo Hackett Prep on Wednesday May 19, 2021.  It was senior night so there was an energy in the air unlike the previous games and the Falcons were ready to go. From kick off Constantine was aggressive and got two quick attacks on the Irish one run ended in a corner kick.  Freshman Amaya Walker [28] launched a ball into the center of the 18, it got deflected back out towards Walker who drove a laser shot past the Irish keeper and for her first career goal at 2:57.  In a quick return hustle play Kylie Roberts won a ball and worked it up into her power range and the Falcons got their second goal at 3:23. Over the course of the next 30 minutes the Falcons defended their hearts out.  Led by Junior Sweeper Emilee Miller, they kept the Irish away from the Goal for the first 13 minutes until their first allow. Another Irish attack ended in a goal which tied the match 2-2.  A free kick in the 28th minute from Kylie Roberts pulled the Falcons again up over the Irish at 3-2.  Alyssa Parmer was resilient in the first half with 10 star saves, 3 were diving saves with opposition contact. Going into the Second half up 3-2 the Falcons got a hefty pep talk about responsibility and tactful defensive play so they could hold the lead.  As well as plenty of water, this was the first game played in over 75°heat.  An injury paused the game in the second half which thankfully allowed another water break.  The second half was quiet until The Irish pulled together an attack in the 52nd minute that resulted in a tie game [3-3] and another goal in the 58th that lifted them over the Falcons, but not for long.  Leah Dumm exploded from her holding mid spot to the right flank running onto a scramble of quick passes from Mary Moore and Erika Martinez.  Dumm being defended by an Irish back and dribbled inside the 18 then ripped a hard shot in the corner that brought the game to a closing tie 4-4 at 61 minutes.  The rest of the time was a hard fought defensive match.  The Constantine Defense held together by Alyssa Parmer completed a masterful performance by the Falcons and Irish.  A true Nail – Biter and powerful exhibit of the progress of the Falcon girls’ soccer Program. See the Falcon’s take on Buchanan in their First District Game on May 26, 2021 at the Falcon Field! Come and cheer on your Lady Falcon soccer team.   STATS: A.PARMER [37] Senior: 17 saves 4 allowed K.Roberts [10] Senior: 2 goals, 4 sogs L.Dumm [9] Senior: 1 goal, 1 sog A.Walker [28] Freshman: 1 goal, 1 sog G.Hofmeister [3] Senior, T.Roberts [7] Freshman: 1 SOG all

Falcons Win: 7 - 2
Monday night Constantine invited the Pathers of Delton-Kellogg to their field.   For historical resonance the Panthers game in 2018-2019 ended in a mercy loss for the Falcons. To Current: The game was scheduled to start at 5 but was delayed due to communication issues with the referee staff until 6:00.  Quickly ushered onto the field at their arrival the game started at 5:37 p.m. Without delay there was great pressure put on both teams.  The panthers had a very strong defensive line who also from time to time pushed the ball to the falcon d-line.  E.Miller led the Constantine defense to a great shut out half.  Alyssa only chalked up 2 saves during the duration of the first forty minutes.  K.Roberts, who had been playing a fullback/sweeper position for the past week, got her start again as an attacking forward.  Quickly into the half Hofmeister and Roberts put together multiple shots on goal, 3 which were on target.  Thankfully prior to the end of the first half the Falcons were able to put together an offensive run that ended in the back of the net at 32 minutes. The Falcons suffered a goal in the 47th minute of play which really turned up the heat for the team in the second half and Constantine rose to the occasion dominating minutes of possession, first touches on 50/50 balls and working together as a unit to get   E. Martinez and G.Hofmeister rallied behind every ball and aggressively attacked the panthers.  Goals for the Falcons were scored as follows: 48th minute : Kylie Roberts 56th : Kylie Roberts assisted by Grace Hofmeister 64th : Grace Hofmeister assisted by Amaya Walker on a Corner Kick 65 : Grace Hofmeister 67 : Leah Dumm assisted by Grace Hofmeister 73 : Kylie Roberts assisted by Amaya Walker During the 68th minute the Panthers were able to sneak in a Goal on A.Parmer. Which ended her night with 10 saves and 2 allowed. This game concludes the long  stretch of  4-home games for the Falcons as they return to the open road to meet Fennville Wednesday May 12th.   They will be back at home the 19th for Senior night after a bout with Lawton next Monday.  Great Job Falcons!

Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Bronson Jr/Sr High School

Falcons Win: 8 - 0
On a chilly, wet night in Constantine the Falcon ladies prepared for their first home game of the season.  They welcomed neighbor Bronson to their field in front of quite a home fan base.   The first 15 minutes were engaging on both ends with Bronson putting up quite a battle on controlling the ball.  The Viking GK denied the first 7 shot attempts from the Falcons before the first one got through.  K. Roberts finally found her touch in the 17th minute which helped the team reset on the field.  There was a lot of substitution on both sides of the field which kept the game pace fast.   The Falcons got caught in a lot of offensive attacks when they got closed in by the invasive Viking defense.  Trying to keep the possession of the ball was successful for the Falcon team until one too many touches caused turnovers and the Vikings capitalized as much as they could.  At the close of the half the Falcons led 2-0. Coming out the second half with a new game plan and some strategy the Constantine team was quickly able to capitalize on their speed and passing skills.  There were 4 goals in the first 15 minutes of the second, 2 from K. Roberts, a second from Leah Dumm, and a season first for M. Moore.  The attacks were all possible by implementing self-less play and quick decision making from the team starting from our d-line.  A.Herlein and A. Walker both contributed greatly to getting control of the ball and starting offensive attacks. For the first time in Falcon Soccer history the game ended early due to a Mercy-Rule effect in the 65th minute.  The Constantine Falcons were on the scoreboard 8-0 in a victory.   Stats: Kylie Roberts, senior #10, 3 goals, 1 assist Leah Dumm, Senior #9, 2 goals Mary Moore, Junior #14, 2 goals Brionna Ortiz, Junior #16, 1 goal Cami McMillin, Junior #17, 1 assist Grace Hofmeister [4], Kylie Roberts [10], Mary Moore [4], Leah Dumm [3], Brionna Ortiz [3], Cami McMillin  [2], Amaya Walker [1], indicating shots on goal. The Falcons welcome Coloma on Monday May 3rd.

Falcons Win: 6 - 0
Monday 4/26 Constantine took a trip to Watervliet for a match against the Panthers. The wind was strong but so were the Falcons, they opened up the first half with a quick goal inside of 4 minutes.  It may have only been 1 but it lifted the Falcons out of a 2-game scoreless funk.  With teamwork and good communication the Falcons were able to put together consecutive runs which started from the d-line and offensive attaches towards the Panther half.   Constantine was able to make two more offensive attacks that resulted in goals. One from Cami McMillin who was just returning from an injury sustained during week 1. The field was narrow which resulted in a lot of quick up the line passes, but also rapid attacks from the Panthers.  There was a lot of d-line to d-line balls with the wind so keeping ball control was cruicial.  The beginning of the second half, with the winds help, allowed Watervliet to attack our holding mids and defense quite a bit.  Thankfully The Falcons were able to withstand the pressure and Alyssa ended the game with a shut out. Offensively the second half Constantine matched the first half markings but placing 3 more in the back of the net all from Senior Vetran Kylie Roberts. Alyssa Parmer, senior GK #37  :   2 saves Kylie Robers, Senior #10 :    14 Shots,  7 on target, 4 Goals, 1 assist. Leah Dumm, Senior #9 : 1 Shot, 1 Goal Cami McMillin, Junior #17, 2 shots, 2 on target, 1 goal Taylor Roberts, Freshman #7, 1 shot, 1 assist Grace Hofmeister, Senior #3, 5 shots, 2 on target Mary Moore, Lyta Williams, Erika Martinez, Brionna Ortiz and Amaya Walker : all credited with Shots on goal. The Falcons are ready for their first Home match vs the Vikings of Bronson on Wednesday 4/28.

Falcons Lose: 0 - 3
The Lady Falcons faced stiff competition on Wednesday April 21, 2021 when they faced Parchment.  This was a very even match throughout. Unfortunately the end of the match said 0-3 in favor of the Panthers.  This doesn't reflect the wonderful teamwork of the Falcons.  The ultimate downfall was the ball didn't get into the net, even with multiple attempts.  Kudos to the Panthers' GK who shut out all the Constantine offensive runs and attempts. Defensively the Falcons held the Panthers extremely well in the first half using the power of the holding mids E.Martinez and L.Dumm led by E. Miller. The Falcons are on the road yet again on Monday 4/26/2021 to face Watervliet.    Good Luck Ladies

Falcons Lose: 0 - 6
CONSTANTINE LADY FALCONS SOCCER  Monday April 19, 2021 Constantine took the trip to Saugatuck High School, All other Falcon sporting events were canceled due to weather conditions. The Constantine girls started play strong and together kept the Trailblazers out of the back of the net for the first 29 minutes.  The defensive shut down was led by senior Keeper Alyssa who canceled 11 attempts from Saugatuck [8 direct SOGs].  Saugatuck utilized their entire team in working the ball up the field, keeping possession 70% of the game.  Constantine fought tooth and nail to make their touches count and they did.  Even while only possessing the ball 28-29% of the first half we got 2 shots on goal and 4 solid attacking patterns the first half. Going into the second half Saugatuck turned on the heat in the chilly 40o match. The first ten minutes were lax on both ends and then the Trailblazers broke down our defense and knocked in two well played balls within the first 10 minutes.  That scoring run along with some unsolicited bantering from the opposition seemed to set the Falcons on their heels. In positive notes we welcomed back 3-year player Autumn Herlein who stepped up into her role, also Kylie Roberts showed good footwork and was precise on 2 direct kicks as well as a shiner of a corner kick which combined for 5 attempts 3 on target.  Grace Hofmeister pressured the Saugatuck d-line with her speed and all around tenacity, Hofmeister ended with a shot on goal on a lone take down the middle. Erika Martinez, Leah Dumm, Emilee Miller, Lyta Williams and Alyssa Parmer must be recognized for their outstanding persistence. Stats: Alyssa Parmer 18 saves, 6 allowed Kylie Roberts & Grace Hofmeister combined for 6 attempts at the goal, 3 on target.   *YELLOW CARD INFRACTIONS: EMILEE MILLER (1)

Falcons Win: 4 - 0
The Lady Falcons started out their weekend with a Victory over the Buchanan team.  After a delayed arrival to the field the girls got warmed up and ready for the game in record time. We started the game in true Falcon fashion 'Win the first 5 minutes.'  Led by 3-year starter, Senior Kylie Roberts (#10), the Falcons kept the ball on the Buck side for almost the entirety of the first 40 minutes.  At the end of 40:00 Constantine came out with a 4-0 lead and Alyssa Parmer had a perfect half.  The movement from the defensive line was strong which led to incredible offensive attacks.  Also key midfield marking by Erika Martinez and Leah Dumm, who kept Buchanan's key players contained. Going into the second half we committed to controlling the middle of the field and playing an elevated passing game.  Overcoming numerous off-side errors the Constantine Falcons remained resilient and put the ball right back on their half.  The effort from the Falcons was highly effective as we kept the ball 80% of the second half and limited the Buchs to only 3 shots, 1 of which was on target with an impressive save by Parmer.   "We played exactly how we practiced on Thursday.  The girls really stepped up and moved the ball, allowing it to do the work." - Coach Borkholder shared after the match. "Kudos to Buchanan for being flexible in their second half shut down of our offense." The Game resulted in a Keeper Shut Out by Alyssa Parmer!  4 Goals by Senior Kylie Roberts a total of 23 shots on goal, 12 on target. Constantine goes back on the road to face Saugatuck on Monday 4/19/2021

Falcons Lose: 1 - 9
On Monday April 12th the Girls Varsity picked back up their game schedule against Schoolcraft at their field.  This was our first reunion since prior to Spring Break & Easter.  It resulted in a loss to the Eagles (9-1 M.) It was a rich game of back and forth play and a lot of positive possessions for the Falcons but after a quick 2 score start from Schoolcraft, our team had to adjust our play and pick up man marking.  Amidst the very physical game there was quite a bit of contact on both sides which elevated the level of exhaustion for a first game back on the pitch, the result was a combined 5 fouls. Key possession:   There were 12:17 glorious minutes of teamwork and on/off the ball play from the Falcon women in response to a Third Goal from the Eagles near the 20th minute, this held off and disassemble the Eagles and held them scoreless for some of the first half. Falcon Defensive line, led by 3-Year veteran Emilee Miller (#4), held strong and gave an amazing effort in stopping, winning and getting solid touches on the ball.   The midfield was able to facilitate 5 solid slotted balls for our forwards in the attacks that led to 6 shots on target, for a total of 11 offensive attempts.  Kylie Roberts (#10) knocked in a phenomenal direct kick for our solo goal. Alyssa Parmer (#37) chalked up 10 saves throughout the match.   NO CARDS WERE ISSUED DURING THIS GAME

Falcons Win: 7 - 1
FALCONS SOCCER: The girls team set out to accomplish a season opening victory tonight at Niles Brandywine. With a great team effort and diligent footwork the game ended in a 7-1 win.  The high wind posed a threat but didn't overtake a quick goal within the first minute.  We had an amazing effort by our defense to keep the ball off our half and the pressure on the Bobcats. Speed & Ball work from the midfield to our forwards was key to releasing our shooters to the goal.   Senior Keeper Alyssa Parmer, #37, chalked up 7 saves in this almost shut-out. Senior Forward Kylie Roberts, #10, tagged up a hat-trick & some with 4 goals and an assist.              1st one at :40. Senior Midfielder Grace Hofmeister, #3, added two goals. Senior Midfielder Leah Dumm, #9, in her first soccer match tallied 1 goal.  Junior Midfielder Erika Martinez, #2, assisted in a goal for her team. *Yellow Card infractions: Coach Borkholder (1), Emilee Miller (1)
